There are certain images that seem to arrive in your imagination before you know where they came from.
A white beach with nobody on it. A palm bent lazily over the sand. Water so blue it looks slightly unreal. Maybe it was growing up watching The Blue Lagoon. Maybe it was Kate Moss disappearing into some far-flung beach in that old British Vogue editorial Castaway.
Of course, it is older than all of that ~ some half-buried idea of escape we carry around with us, waiting for the right coastline to bring it back.
Whatever it is, Spell has been chasing some version of that image for years…
Our latest collection Golden, embodies all the pieces of our younger selves that brought us to this moment.
One part shimmering mirage to two parts vivid memories, there’s an almost mythical, coming-full-circle quality threaded throughout. Notes of familiarity find a home in Fleur, where former favourites have been gently reimagined ~ and refined. Signature prints embody the spirit of a Summer holiday, and silhouettes are designed to move with the same freedom they encourage you to feel.
This is the very essence of an island existence, distilled into stories you can take with you, long after the salt is washed from your hair or the last grains of sand emptied from your bag.
Crisp cottons and gently sun washed colours float through the collection in a cascade of ruffles, designed to catch the sea breeze. Tropical flora is brought to life in bold prints, unmistakably ours ~ and silky jacquards transition with ease from day to dusk to night. Delicate self-covered buttons, tassels and lace offer a veritable sea-chest of heirloom details, all stitched with love, through every story. Landing like a postcard from our former selves, penned somewhere between the roadside fruit stalls and the long stretches of icing-sugar sand, Golden takes us back to a simpler time.
Channeling resort-ready vibes, where an entire wardrobe fits beautifully into a single bag, it feels a lot like an invitation to go in search of her once more.
